Framework Programme 7
The Framework Programme (FP) is the European Union's main instrument for funding research and technological development (RTD). FP7 runs for seven years from 2007 to 2013.
The energy theme focuses on the following activities:
- Hydrogen and fuel cells
- Renewable electricity generation
- Renewable fuel production
- Renewables for heating and cooling
- CO2 capture and storage technologies for zero emission power generation
- Clean coal technologies
- Smart energy networks
- Energy efficiency and savings (including Concerto*)
- Knowledge for energy policy making

*Concerto supports local communities, as clearly defined geographical areas or zones, in developing and demonstrating concrete strategies and actions that are both sustainable and highly energy efficient. Information on Concerto can be found on the Concerto website.
